This Week's Pairing & Pouring

Don’t let the snow discourage your trip to downtown Wayland and our weekly wine pairing and pouring from 5-8 p.m. Arny will be preparing hands-down the BEST mushroom pasta recipe without cream! Often times, the creamy sauce drowns the pasta and mutes the natural taste and richness of the mushrooms. The secret ingredient is a little of the starchy pasta water! The water acts as a thickener, and creates a silky sauce, eliminating the need for heavy cream. This dish is rich and velvety with loads of mushrooms, garlic, shallots, a little parmesan, and a lighter sauce. Every bit as comforting as it plays up the earthy taste of mushrooms in the best way possible!


Our wines for the evening celebrate Chateau Fontaine, a family-owned winery located in the heart of the Leelanau Peninsula. Opened in 2000, Dan and Lucie Matthies started growing grapes in 1987. Starting with Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, Chateau Fontaine now grows 15 varietals and produces some of the most awarded wines in Michigan. The Matthies were the first to grow Syrah grapes in Michigan and the first to grow Cabernet Sauvignon in Leelanau.


To accommodate our customers who are observing Lent, our pairings will not contain meat. There will be meat options available for those who are not participating in the Lenten season. See you tonight!
