Arny will be serving Chili Pasta at our Friday night wine tasting and pairing from 5-8 p.m. When we were children, our Mother could have made anything with any kind of pasta and we would have been happy. Some of us also ate chili a lot as kids. It is budget friendly and you can make a lot for a crowd without going broke. So – when you add another favorite ingredient, like pasta, then you have a meal that is not only affordable but filling and rib-sticking comfort food to the max! Arny’s recipe starts with Carfagna’s Chili Ready. Savory and sweet, this tomato-based chili with red kidney beans makes for a perfect worry-free meal! You can try both the mild and spicy which we have in store.
We’ll be pairing Tavernello Sangiovese, Fenn Valley Traminette, and Domaine Laurier Brut wines. The Tavernello is vibrant red in color with violet hues and an intense nose of red fruits. On the palate it is bursting with fruit flavors of red cherries and blackberries. Traminette wine is a hybrid of Gewurztraminer developed at Cornell University. This semi-dry wine has a muscat-spice character bursting with the fresh flavors of ripe apples and pears mingled with the sweetness of violets and apple blossoms. Domaine Laurier Winery uses the traditional methode champenoise process to make this Brut wine, resulting in a sparkling wine that has that wonderful, toasty aroma and fine bead. It preserves the nuances provided by the Chardonnay grape so that the “champagne” has the added fruit, depth and complexity that are hallmarks of Chardonnay wines.
