At this week's tasting from 5-8 p.m. tonight, we will be featuring Carfagna's Butcher's Blend Ground Beef Sauce. Grandmother Nonna Maria taught family how to make celebrated Italian food using authentic Carfagna Family Recipes from the Abruzzo-Molise Region of Italy. With each of the Carfagna homemade products, they follow her advice using only the freshest, premium products. They take their time making each delicious item so you won’t have to!
Our pairings include:
1000 Stories Zinfandel - A portion of the wine is aged in French and American oak for 6 months and then aged further in bourbon barrels. They selected new and used bourbon barrels for these small batches of Zinfandel, which impart characteristics specific to the barrels: charred vanilla, dried herbs and a hint of caramel. It's an awesome every day wine, very approachable, with a subtle hint of bourbon on the finish.
Lilly – A new California white wine blend is infused with Butterfly Pea Flower, giving it its bold color. Bright acidity cuts through a light sweetness reminiscent of a mixed berry pie. Subtle notes of juicy boysenberry and blackberry balance with an acidity that leaves you wanting to take another sip.
Goats Do Roam White Blend - The legend goes that some errant members of Fairview’s long-established goat herd once escaped from their paddock into the Fairview vineyards after Charles Back’s young son Jason accidentally left the gate open. The little group happily roamed among the vineyards, showing rare discernment by selecting some of the ripest berries from the vines. Inspired by this tale, they now use these berries in the making of their Goats Do Roam wine. Highly drinkable and superb in quality, the Goats Do Roam range is an intriguing mix of southern French and Italian style blends, rich in complexity and at value-for-money prices.
