This evening, from 5 to 8 p.m., we invite you to join us for our wine pairing and pouring event, featuring Carfagna's Puttanesca Pasta, which is crafted with spicy tomato filets, garlic, and black olives. According to legend, this delectable recipe was favored by the "ladies of the night" in the Spanish Quarters of Italy (the term puttanesca is derived from "puttana", the Italian word for prostitute). This dish could be prepared in just a few minutes using low-cost, easily-stored ingredients, allowing them to consume it quickly between clients. The strong, spicy aroma it produced would attract or entice customers to enter. While prostitution carries various meanings across the globe, there is only one place where it has inspired a sauce: Italy, and that sauce is puttanesca. For the evening, our selection of wines includes: Hudsonville White Cranberry, a well-liked tart white wine that has a flavor profile reminiscent of white grape wine with a hint of cranberry; Borne of Fire Cabernet Sauvignon, a robust yet refined wine characterized by herbal expressive aromas combined with notes of cherry, currant, savory spice, and red pepper; and Chateau Fontaine Pinot Blanc, a complex and fruit-forward wine featuring tropical flavors.
