Valentine's Day Pairing & Pouring

This week at our Valentine’s Day Pairing and Pouring (Friday night, 5-8 p.m.), we are featuring Carfagna's Puttanesca Pasta, made with spicy tomato filets, garlic and black olives. Legend has it that this savory recipe was a favorite of the “ladies of the night” in the Spanish Quarters of Italy (the term puttanesca derives from “puttana”, the Italian word for prostitute). Prepared in just a few minutes with low cost, easily-stored ingredients, they quickly ate the dish between clients. The powerful spicy aroma produced would entice or lure customers through the door. Prostitution has different connotations around the world, but there’s only one place where it has inspired a sauce. That place is Italy and the stuff is puttanesca.

We’ll be pouring Castello del Poggio Sweet Rosé, cherished for its notes of apricot, white peach, and pomegranate that lead to a fresh and crisp effervescent finish; Dolce Amore, brilliant with fine, tiny bubbles, it’s a sparkling wine with an elegant delicate aroma; and Chateau Chantal Naughty Red, low in tannin with smooth finishes, it is a blend made up primarily of Gamay and Pinot Noir grapes.

If you haven't selected a gift yet for that special someone, let us put a basket together with all the products sure to please. Our fresh meats and cheeses, fine wines and craft beers, quality spirits and various desserts make perfect Valentine’s Day gifts. Stop in and let us help you put the best gift together.
