At tonight’s wine pairing and pouring, Arny will be preparing Creamy Italian Sausage Pasta. This classic dish is fast, easy, and uses minimal ingredients. It’s the perfect weeknight dinner that tastes like it came from a famous Italian restaurant. This pasta dish will be paired with Banfi Chianti Classico. Castello Banfi was founded in Tuscany in 1978 by Italian-American brothers John and Harry Mariani. It had its origins in their father's business, Banfi Vintners, which was founded in 1919 and was America's leading Italian wine importer at the time. Today, Castello Banfi has vineyards throughout the northwest coast of Italy. Their Chianti opens on the nose showing notes of strawberries, red plums and lemon rind blended with hints of white stone dust. It is medium bodied with rounded tannins and a classic finale.
Our charcuterie will be paired with Chateau Fontaine Pinot Gris. Pinot Gris is a pale, grayish-blue wine grape that makes a refreshing white wine. Originally from France, Pinot Gris wines are the perfect wines for warming weather. Think crisp and refreshing with floral hints, appealing flavors of citrus, green apples and maybe even a little spice.
For our dolce we’ll be pairing Hudsonville Acai, a must-taste sweet fruit wine. The acai is an inch-long, reddish-purple berry that comes from a South American palm tree. Studies show that acai fruit pulp is even richer in antioxidants than cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, or blueberries. Acai, pronounced ah-SI-ee, also contains fiber as well as other vitamins and minerals.
We’ll see you tonight from 5-8 p.m.
