Santa Claus (aka St. Nick, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, or simply Santa) is celebrated for flying around the globe to give gifts to children. And the holly-jolly guy carries around a list of names with two columns: one labeled “good” and one labeled “bad.” “He’s making a list. And checking it twice. Gonna find out who’s naughty and nice.” Naughty kids have a sad Christmas without gifts. Nice kids have a happy Christmas with gifts. And Santa is the decider.
Now we all know parents don’t really use the North Pole behavior police to make their children follow school and home rules, play nice with siblings, and be kind to Aunt Bertha’s grouchy cat. But it is fun to tease them about that lump of coal they are going to find in their stocking if they don’t clean their rooms!
So Friday from 5 to 8 we’re going to celebrate the naughty list at our weekly wine tasting and pairing and our wines are going to reflect that. Do we go caroling or do we hate Christmas music? Did we cut down a fresh tree or decide not to put one up this year? Did we give a hand-made gift or re-gift a present? Join us as we contemplate where we fall on Santa’s list.
