Monthly Bourbon & Wine Pairing

becky52095

Tonight from 5-8 p.m. at our Monthly Bourbon & Wine Pairing, we are featuring Carfagna's Puttanesca Pasta, made with spicy tomato filets, garlic and black olives. Legend has it that this savory recipe was a favorite of the “ladies of the night” in the Spanish Quarters of Italy (the term puttanesca derives from "puttana", the Italian word for prostitute). Prepared in just a few minutes with low cost, easily-stored ingredients, they quickly ate the dish between clients. The powerful spicy aroma produced would entice or lure customers through the door. Prostitution has different connotations around the world, but there’s only one place where it has inspired a sauce. That place is Italy and the stuff is puttanesca.

Our wines include, new to the store, Golden Love Blanc de Blanc, with plenty of citrus as well as stone fruit and pineapple notes and fresh aromatics; Angeline Cabernet Sauvignon, a fruit-forward, easy-to-drink wine that reveals complexity and length with a deep garnet hue and aromas of lush cherry, black current and plum with hints of vanilla and creamy oak; and Robertson Gewurztraminer, a full-bodied wine with honeysuckle and rose petals in bouquet, rich and smooth.

To accommodate our customers who are observing Lent, our pairings will not contain meat. There will be meat options available for those who are not participating in the Lenten season. See you tonight!
