This weekend we celebrate Mother’s Day, created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 to honor her own mother. She organized the first Mother's Day service of worship and celebration at Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church in Grafton, West Virginia, her home state. This location serves as the International Mother's Day Shrine today. In 1914, Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating Mother's Day, held on the second Sunday in May, as an official U.S. national holiday to honor mothers and recognize their sacrifices, unconditional support, and hard work. While the U.S. observes Mother’s Day in May, over 40 countries also celebrate Moms, often in March or May, with traditions varying worldwide. We have many items to choose from for Mother's Day and can make a special basket just for her. Stop in and ask about the choices available. At our Friday night pairing, Arny will be preparing spicy pasta with broccoli. We are going through our distributor wine recommendations and look forward to your input. We'll see you from 5-8 p.m. tonight!
