Join Us Tonight and Beat the Heat!

We're back tonight from 5-8 p.m. for our weekly wine tasting and pairing! Arny will be preparing angel hair pasta with Carfagna's Meat Lovers Little Meatball pasta sauce. The Carfagna family takes their yummy little “wedding soup” meatballs and packs them into this can’t miss sauce. Slow cooked in their original recipe, the Little Meatball sauce is as delicious as it is unique! Our wines tonight, Roscato Sweet Red, Banfi Chianti Classico, and Fenn Valley Sparkling Riesling, will all be served chilled to help you beat the heat!

Wine heat damage is a real concern, ant it's much more prevalent than you might think.  Temperatures over 70 degrees for a significant amount of time can permanently taint the flavor of wine. Above 80 degrees or so and you are literally starting to cook the wine. Heat can also compromise the seal of the bottle, leading to oxidation problems.

Here are some tips to prevent wine heat damage. Don't leave wine in your car. Your vehicle can reach well above 100 degrees Fahrenheit on an average summer day. Treat your wine like a basket of fresh berries or a quart of ice cream. Precious! Put wine in the passenger compartment with you. If you make a purchase, make it your last stop and go directly home. If you're traveling with wine, use a cooler. Even your house could be too warm. When it's really hot outside, the temperature inside more residences with air conditioning can rise to the low to mid 70's. Those without AC can skyrocket. Wild temperature fluctuations can damage wine too. Store wine in your cellar or basement. Keep your wine in the fridge if you don't have a cellar. Avoid putting your wine close to windows or on top of your fridge. Don't put wine in an attic or garage as these spaces tend to trap and magnify heat and cool way down at night. And lastly, if you are dining outside, leave your wine bottle indoors. The glass of the bottle can act like a lens and cook the wine with a laser of sunshine.

We hope those tips were helpful. Join us tonight in our comfortable atmosphere with a refreshing glass and authentic Italian cuisine!
